  • About Laurie Kimbrel

    After earning her bachelor of science in music and business with honors from Millikin University, Laurie Kimbrel taught at several Illinois primary and secondary schools. While teaching, she returned to the academic environment to earn a master of science in special education from Dominican University and a certificate of advanced study in educational leadership National Louis University. Laurie Kimbrel’s first administrative position came in 1998, when she became dean of students for Lake Forest School District 115. Shortly after accepting this position, she enrolled at Loyola University Chicago to pursue her doctor of education with a focus in curriculum and instruction. Dr. Kimbrel obtained her MS, CAS, and EdD degrees with a perfect grade point average of 4.0.

    Laurie Kimbrel is serving the 2015/2016 school year as project manager of the Atlanta K-12 Design Challenge, a public-private education partnership serving communities in greater Atlanta, Georgia. This initiative strives to provide local schools with seed funding and ongoing support to develop prototype educational solutions.
